Privacy Policy
SpanishFlow · Last updated: 1 October 2026
SpanishFlow ("we", "the app") is a language-learning app for studying Spanish.
This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how we handle it.
Information we collect
- Account information — when you sign up (with email, Google or Apple), we store your email address and a display name (via Google Firebase Authentication). If you use Sign in with Apple and hide your email, we only receive the private relay address Apple gives us.
- Learning progress — your XP, streak, completed lessons, achievements, words learned and similar progress data, so your account stays in sync across devices.
- Speaking and pronunciation practice — the app uses the microphone only while you are practising. Your device's speech recognition turns your voice into text (on iPhone this is done by Apple's speech recognition; in a web browser, by the browser's own service). We never receive or store the audio. We keep the text of your last wrong answer to each exercise, including the text transcribed from your voice, so you and, if you are one of my students, your teacher can see what to work on.
- Optional content you submit — feedback messages, messages to your teacher, and, if you use the AI tutor, the chat messages you send.
- App activity — study time, number of sessions, which parts of the app you use, exercise results and exam history. This is what powers your stats and, if you are one of my students, your teacher's progress dashboard.
- Device information — device type, operating system, language and time zone, plus anonymous crash reports, so we can fix problems.
- Notifications — if you allow them, a push subscription identifier so the app can send you study reminders. You can turn them off at any time in your device settings.
- Country flag — optional, only if you choose one for the leaderboard.
- We do not collect your location, contacts, or payment-card details within the app. If you book a lesson, the payment is handled entirely by Stripe and we never see your card details.
How we use your information
- To create and maintain your account and save your progress.
- To show leaderboards and class features (your display name and XP may be visible to other learners).
- To provide the AI tutor (your messages are sent to our AI provider to generate a reply).
- To improve the app based on feedback.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication and Realtime Database).
Some progress is also kept locally on your device. The AI tutor sends your chat messages to a
third-party AI service solely to generate responses.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We only share it with the service providers needed
to run the app (e.g., Google Firebase, our hosting provider, Stripe for class payments, Apple for Sign in with Apple and speech recognition on iPhone, and the AI provider for the tutor feature).
Children
SpanishFlow is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from
children under 13 without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided personal data,
contact us and we will remove it.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and all of its data from inside the app, at any time:
open Profile → Account & privacy → Delete my account. This permanently
removes your progress, XP, streak, exercise history, messages with your teacher and your
leaderboard entry, and it cannot be undone. You can also request deletion by emailing us at
daniniwe@gmail.com.
Your choices
- You can request access to, or deletion of, your account data by contacting us.
- You can clear locally stored data from your browser/app settings at any time.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the latest version.
